Meet Hank the Cowdog. This is the first book that I read to the class to get them motivated to read. He's a funny character and fun to read. I read his character with a strong Southern accent which I hope carries through to the kids to read with expression with each character in their own library books. A big part of third grade is the ability to read chapter books like this one and to earn more A.R. points so we can put our name in a drawing for a BIG prize at the end of the year! Reading can be as fun as you make it....just remember how much you liked hearing Hank!
